Northampton Parole and Probation Roles

A reported violation also does not answer the final outcome. Pennsylvania's revocation-hearing process may result in continued parole or recommitment, depending on the proceeding and decision. Recommitment means a return to custody under the parole process. A review date or expected decision month is not a promised release date. Which Northampton Release Office Applies?

The local split is easy to test. A Northampton County Jail release followed by a county probation sentence points to Adult Probation. A transfer from the jail to a PA DOC prison is not a release to supervision. A later state-prison parole points to the PA DOC supervised-person locator and state field office. The Pennsylvania Parole Board decides that parole but does not serve as the field-supervision office.

A Board Action may approve parole to the street or to a detainer. Parole to a detainer changes the custodian and does not mean unrestricted community release. The minimum sentence date is an eligibility point, not a guaranteed departure date. Institutional parole staff must still complete prerequisites and process an approved release.
